Psychotherapy in Soho
I work with people navigating identity, relationships, burnout, and anxiety that can sit quietly behind success or performance.
If something feels wrong - however big or small - that's enough to start.
Zara Taylor, UKCP & BACP registered psychotherapist
What is therapy?
At its simplest, therapy is time and space just for you, to talk and be understood. Somewhere to feel safe and heard, to start seeing yourself more clearly and make sense of what's happening.
What I offer is a grounded and warm presence that can hold the difficult feelings, the contradictions, the things that don't make sense yet - without judgment and without rushing to fix it.
It can take time, and change doesn't always look like a big leap, sometimes it's just seeing something a little differently, or feeling a bit more connected to yourself and others. Either way, it happens at whatever pace feels right for you.
What I can help with
People come to me with all kinds of things, often including:
Anxiety that can sit quietly behind success or performance
Feeling low or flat, like the colour has gone out of things
Burnout - feeling exhausted and going through the motions of a life that used to feel more meaningful
Relationships and family patterns that feel difficult and repetitive
Doing well on the outside but never quite feeling good enough inside, and the quiet fear of being found out
Questioning your identity - who you are, what you value, where you belong
Feeling disconnected from how you feel or struggling to notice, name or share what's going on inside
And if something just feels a bit off, therapy can help you make sense of it.
Working together
-
Therapy isn't always comfortable, but it is purposeful. What I offer is consistency and warmth. A space where difficult things can be looked at without rushing to fix them.
I'm an integrative psychotherapist. I draw on a range of ideas and evidence-based approaches to understand how and why we feel, think, and relate as we do.
My style is collaborative. I won't give advice or tell you what to do. Instead, we reflect and explore together - making sense of what's happening and figuring out what change might look like for you.
I have a relational approach, which means the relationships in your life are always part of the picture - the important ones from your past, how you relate to yourself now, and what emerges between us in the room. That last part matters because the therapeutic relationship is often a place where different parts of you can show up, be explored and understood.
-
Therapy works best when it feels like a good match, based on trust and open collaboration.
Our first session is a one-off 50min consultation where you can share what’s on your mind and what you hope to gain from therapy - and I’ll try to give you a sense of how I work. We’ll use this time to see if it feels like a good fit, with no pressure to commit to more sessions afterwards.
-
Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £80. I hold a few discounted slots for those that need it - just ask when booking. Payment is taken via an online link, in advance of our first session.
I see clients in person in Soho, central London - or online via Google Meet.
My therapy room involves a number of stairs and isn't wheelchair accessible - I'm sorry this limits who I can see face to face, but online sessions are always an option and I'm happy to discuss what might work for you.
Before we begin working together, I'll send over a short client agreement covering things like cancellation and confidentiality, so we're both clear on how things work.
-
My practice is inclusive and welcoming of people from all backgrounds and identities, including those who identify as LGBTQ+.
I deeply respect the individual beliefs and values of my clients, including their spirituality.
I'm aware that I hold power and privilege in some ways and less in others, and that this is part of any relationship, including ours. I try to stay alert to this rather than assume it doesn't matter, so that questions of identity and power can be openly explored if they come up, not avoided. This is part of what it means to me to strive for an anti-oppressive practice.
